Monroe City Official Municipal Election Returns
Monroe City’s pre-canvass of election returns showed the following items of note:
1. There were 9 regular ballots received that were not counted. Four of them had signatures that did not match the signatures the county had on file. Five of these ballots were not signed.
2. There were 8 provisional ballots received. Five were counted and three were rejected because the registration form was not completed.
3. The Sevier County Clerk informed the voters whose ballots were rejected of the action they must take in order for their vote to be counted.
The combined Monroe voting precincts (8-9) have1,108 registered voters. There were 565 ballots cast, which is 50.99% of registered voters.
The following are the final results of the November 7, 2017 Monroe City General Municipal Election.
Mayor, 4 year term:
Johnny Parsons 499 100.00%
Councilmember, 4 year term:
Perry Payne 355 34.50 %
Gregory Northrup 191 18.56%
Kirk Thornock 182 17.89%
Janet Bohn Cartwright 301 29.25%
